Disaster Related FEMA Registration
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened a Disaster Recovery Center at the Elementary School in Fredericktown. According to FEMA representative Michael Casella, registration can only take place on line (www.fema.gov) or (www.disasterassistance.gov) or by phone, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
FEMA officials have received information that some disaster victims may have completed an initial ‘disaster information’ form while at the First Baptist Church. The form was not a FEMA form. Casella said, “The only way you can register with FEMA is on-line or by phone.” Victims are encouraged to confirm they have registered with FEMA for help with their disaster related needs.
The phone number can also provide victims with other contact number for agencies who are involved with disaster recovery, including the IRS, Crisis Counseling, Small Business Administration, Unemployment, the Veterans Adminsitration and others. Casella said 26 agencies are working together with FEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide help. The IRS Disaster Assistance phone number is 1-866-562-5227 or www.irs.gov. Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) deadline is July 23, 2009. For more information on DUA call 1-800-788-4002.
