‘Tour of Missouri’ topic at 4th Friday

PARK HILLS — Farmington City Administrator Greg Beavers will talk about how the town is getting ready and how volunteers can participate in the Tour of Missouri international bike race when he speaks at Mineral Area College 4th Friday Club Luncheon on Aug. 28.

The public is invited to attend the lunch at 11:45 a.m. in the North College Center. Lunch is $7 per person, and reservations should be made as soon as possible to Peggy Gillespie, (573) 518-2146, and no later than Aug. 25.

Tour of Missouri is in its third year as an international bike race.

For the first time since its inaugural year, the 2009 Tour will route east to west, starting in St. Louis and finishing in Kansas City. The past two years, the race routed west to east, starting in Kansas City and finishing in St. Louis.

The Farmington leg begins at 11 a.m. on Sept. 9, and will end in Rolla.
