Mr. R. Morrison Smith, Sr.
ST. LOUIS — R. Morrison Smith, Sr., 84, formerly of Farmington, passed away August 5, 2009, at his Alexian Brothers Lansdowne Village residence in St. Louis. Morrison was born on July 18, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, and was the son of Milford A. Smith and Grace Catherine ‘Morrison’ Smith.
Morrison was: a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington; a member, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in St. Charles, Missouri, having served as Grand Knight; he was a Cub Master for the Boy Scouts, in St. Charles, when his children were growing up and volunteered at the Food Pantry in Farmington. Morrison earned a teaching certificate from St. Paul VI Institute and taught Sunday School for about 15 years.
Survivors Include: a daughter, Helen M. (and Bryce) Cripps, of Columbia, Missouri; Four Sons: Robert Morrison (and Julie) Smith Jr., of Florissant, Missouri; Charles M. (and Christy) Smith, of St. Peters, Missouri; Col. David M. (and Susanna) Smith, of Maple Hill, North Carolina; Thomas M. (and Kim) Smith, of Farmington. The mother of his children, Betty D. ‘Striebel’ Smith, of Columbia, Missouri. One Sister, Margaret Jo ‘Mrs. John E. (Jack)’ Johnson, of Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving are 15 Grandchildren.
Visitation today, 10-11 a.m., at Taylor Funeral Service, Inc. Chapel, Farmington and Funeral Mass, 11:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Farmington, with Fr. James Dyer officiating.
