Head-on collision injures man

A Fredericktown man was seriously injured Monday when his 2009 Ford was struck head-on in Butler County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, David H. Bess, 50, was northbound on U.S. 67 at 3:46 p.m. when he was hit by a southbound 2006 Mitsubishi that was trying to overtake southbound vehicles, 3 miles south of Poplar Bluff.

Bess was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Renda A. McFarland, 48, of Urbana, Ill., driver of the Mitsubishi, suffered moderate injuries and her passenger, Sasha Luckett, 12, of Urbana, Ill., received minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to the same hospital. All three had been wearing seat belts.

Damage to both vehicles was listed as total.
