Walter Lee Barker

Walter Lee Barker, 57, of Fredericktown died August 2, 2009 in St. Francois County.

He was born December 8, 1951 in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Oscar Lyman and Mary Jane (Dixon) Barker.

Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Diana Kay Hayes; and one grandson, Braden Wade Barker.

On May 16, 2009 he was united in marriage to June (Phillips) Spain. She died August 2, 2009.

Mr. Barker is survived by two sons, Doug Barker of Monck’s Corner, South Carolina and Derek Barker of Farmington; one daughter, Rebecca McGarity of Sikeston, Missouri; two brothers, Curtis Barker of Wright City, Missouri and Randy Barker of Farmington; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Barker enjoyed fishing, travel, billiards and time with his grandchildren.

Services were held August 6, 2009 at Follis and Sons Chapel with Pastor Carl Cureton officiating. Burial was at Rhodes Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Michael Dunn, Mark Hanley, Larry Montgomery, Wayne Riggs, Melvin Tesson and Leonard Wansing.
