Kirby Grant Aldridge

IRONTON — Kirby Grant Aldridge of Ironton passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 63 years, two months and 11 days. He was born June 6, 1946, at Ironton, Mo, son of the late Marvin and Gracie M. (Orr) Aldridge. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Eugene Aldridge and a sister, Darlene Bennett.

Kirby proudly served his country in the U. S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War and later he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He then re-enlisted in the Army National Guard where he worked as a Combat Engineer. At the end of his military career he had served a total of 22 years. He was a member of VFW Post 5896 of Farmington. In his spare time he very much enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by two daughters, Kristina Marie (Mrs. George) Whitworth of Farmington and Kari Jean (Mrs. Robert) Shaw of Wright City; five grandchildren; one brand new granddaughter, Neveah; a sister, Rosella Sisk of the State of Tennessee. Also surviving are two special friends, Jerry and Tommy, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and many friends.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 with funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jay Lacey officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the DAV.
