Helen Skaggs

BONNE TERRE — Helen Marie Skaggs nee Roderick, 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in Desloge, Missouri. She was born on August 20, 1923 to Wilford and Ethel “Crump” Roderick of Wortham, Missouri.

She was a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Missouri. She had been very active as a member of Grace Chapel Lutheran Church and school in north St. Louis County, being involved in numerous organizations including Grace Chapel Guild and Lutheran Neighborhood Missions.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Preston Skaggs, five brothers, Paul, Charles, Leo, Walter Leonard and Edgar Glen Roderick.

She leaves behind two children: daughter, Donna Skaggs Deppe and her husband Dennis of Mountain View, Arkansas, and son Dennis Ronald Skaggs and wife Mary of St. Louis, Missouri. She leaves behind five grandchildren, John Douglas Skaggs of Memphis, Tennessee, Christopher Edward Deppe of Shreveport, Louisiana, Katharyn Deppe Woerner of Stuttgart, Germany, Ryan Matthew Skaggs of St. Louis and Kimberly Renee Skaggs of St. Louis, and two great grandchildren: Kyle Preston Skaggs of Memphis and Kaelyn Aiyana McCurtis of St. Louis; brother, Elvan (Al) Roderick and wife Pauline of Farmington.

Helen was admired by all those who knew her and will be forever remembered for her genuine love and compassion. She lived her life fully as a witness for her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her family is greatly appreciative of the compassionate care given by AmHeart Hospice and National Health Care.

Services were held August 22. 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, with Pastor Robert Eggers officiating. Interment at Bethlehem Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Grace Chapel Christian School.
