Bonne Terre to approve 2010 budget
The Bonne Terre City Council will meet Monday to approve the budget for the next fiscal year.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The council will discuss and then vote to amend the 2009 budget and approve a 2010 budget. The 2009 budget ends Sept. 30.
Items included in the 2010 budget that will be presented to the council include $200,000 in park improvements funded by the special sales tax. On the list are a pavilion and picnic tables for Lakeview Park, a Polaris Ranger, Dairy Field ballfield improvements and new restrooms, a security system, and soccer field improvements.
About $300,000 in street paving and curbing is in the Transportation budget, as well as about $90,000 for a paver and backhoe.
The Police Department has requested a 4X4 Crew Cab Truck at an estimated cost of $27,000. They have also requested $8,000 worth of pistols and $3,000 for computers.
The Water Department has asked for a backhoe bucket and tires, painting of the water tower, a telemetry system for prison wells, and water meter equipment and software.
The library has asked to make the director a full-time position and to hire someone for technical support rather than contract out.
