Bismarck wins Perryville tourney, Hunters take fourth
PERRYVILLE — The Bismarck Lady Indians ran the guantlet at the Perryville Tournament on Saturday, adding six more wins to their record and claiming top prize — first place in the Gold Bracket.
Bismarck (16-3) Beat St. Vincent 25-14, 25-16 in the championship match. Brooke Taylor led Bismarck’s attack with 13 kills. Harley Cadwell made five kills and Megan Bishop had four. Megan Counts led in digs with six, and Taylor and Cadwell had five each.
The Ste. Genevieve Hunters (8-8) won their first three matches before running into Perryville and Bismarck to place fourth in the Gold Bracket.
Fredericktown was 4-1 in the tournament to claim first place in the Silver Bracket, which is equivalent to fifth-place overall.
SOFTBALL
PERRYVILLE — While the volleyball teams were inside, Perryville also held their softball tournament and Central took fourth place with a 3-1 record. Central defeated Herculaneum 4-0, Chaffee 5-2, before losing 11-4 to Perryville. The Lady Rebels lost to Delta, 3-2, in the third place game.
Taylor Friend pitched three of the games for 21 innings total with only one earned run scored against her.
