Police recover stolen equipment

DOE RUN — Police have been able to recover equipment that was stolen from a construction site in Doe Run early Monday morning.

St. Francois County Deputy Matt Wampler said on Tuesday, an informant told police that the stolen items were possibly located in a garage in Doe Run.

Police pulled the suspects over during a traffic stop and received permission to search the residence.

At the residence, police recovered several construction tools including saws, a generator and a pressure washer. Wampler said it was more than $7,500 in equipment.

Police arrested one suspect early Tuesday night and hoped to arrest the other later that night. One man has been identified as 17 years old while the other man is in his 30s and has a lengthy criminal record.
