Couple host country farm festival

A fall-themed event will help area residents enjoy a beautiful fall day filled with shopping, entertainment, food, crafts and much more.

Chris and Jenny McTearnen will host Sprottfest Sunday at their farm, located eight miles on Highway EE in Ste. Genevieve County. They are hoping to bring the little community back with a country farm festival.

The festival will feature a variety of products and activities including antiques, hand crafted items, and locally grown farm fare. There will be plenty of good eats courtesy of Bauhaus Kaffee, Avenue Events Catering, Vance Vineyards and more. There will be coffee, wine, food and treats for all.

When Chris and Jenny moved to their farm two years ago, they thought about hosting an event that would bring all things Jenny loves to her own township. When they began planning the event, Chris immediately came up with the name of Sprottfest.

“Sprottfest is a country farm festival with a variety of products and activities. There will be antiques, artisans featuring everything from handmade scarves to beautiful country photography,” said Jenny.

She added, “We love the farmers market and wanted to give the local farmers an opportunity to bring their products to an audience that might not see them otherwise.”

There will be mums, pumpkins, hay bales, and cut corn stalks for sale as well as setting the stage for the themed event. There will also be musical entertainment and more.

The event will be held at their farm from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, October 18. Their farm is located eight miles on Highway EE. For more information or to sign up as vendors call 573-760-6639.
