Accident takes life of Valles Mines woman
A Valles Mines women was killed Thursday when her 2009 Kia Spectra struck a tree stump in Ste. Genevieve County.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Cynthia L. Duspiwa, 49, was westbound on Route O at 7:40 a.m. when she ran off the left side of the road, .2 mile west of Interstate 55. The vehicle struck the stump and came to rest in a ravine.
Duspiwa had been wearing a seat belt.
Damage to the vehicle was listed as total.
A Farmington teenager received minor injuries Thursday when her 2009 Ford Mustang struck the side of a bridge in St. Francois County.
According to the Highway Patrol reports, Lauren E. Scism, 19, was southbound on U.S. 67 at 6:50 a.m. when her vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck the St. Francois River bridge. She overcorrected to the left and the vehicle struck the right side of the bridge.
Scism, who had been wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Parkland Health Center. Damage to the vehicle was listed as extensive.
