Filings open for municipal, school board positions
Filings have opened for municipal and school district positions and a wide variety of candidates have signed on to the race. Here’s a look at who has filed for what.
County
St. Francois County Ambulance District
Incumbent Lee Roy Calvert filed for a three-year term St. Francois county Ambulance sub-district 6. No one has filed as yet for the three-year term on Ambulance subdistrict 3.
Bismarck
Incumbents Sioux Young (Ward 1), Clarence King (Ward 2) and Mayor Dennis Mayberry have all filed for their positions.
Bonne Terre
Incumbents, Ron Elders (Ward 2) and Ed Hottle (Ward 4) have filed for another two-year term.
Desloge
There are three, two-year terms on the ballot in April for the Desloge Board of Aldermen. Incumbent Mara Westbrook has filed for re-election in Ward I. Ward II incumbent J.D. Hodge has filed for re-election, as has Ward III incumbent Alvin Sutton.
Iron Mountain Lake
Several seats are open in Iron Mountain Lake. Josh Skaggs has filed for a Ward 1 two-year term. Bryan Goodman has filed for a Ward 2 two-year term. Linda Dicus has filed for a Ward 2 one-year term. Connie Beard has filed for a Ward 3 two year term. Eugene Henson has filed a two-year mayor term.
Leadwood
Two, two-year Board of Aldermen seats, the city clerk position and a one-year unexpired term for mayor will be on the ballot in April in Leadwood.
Pete Hackworth has filed for the Ward I seat currently held by Ken Crick. Ward II incumbent Connie Bayless has filed for re-election. Mark Kelly also has filed for the Ward II seat.
City Clerk Debra Bevington has filed for re-election to her position, which has a two-year term.
Dennis Bayless and John Rawson have filed for the one-year unexpired term of mayor. Bayless was appointed to fill that seat until April after the after former Mayor Bill LInk resigned in August at the request of the board. Link was elected to the office in 2009.
Leadington
The Leadington City Council will have two seats on the ballot in April. The 2-year terms of Steve Kinsey and Bud Maples are set to expire. Kinsey has filed for re-election.
Leadwood Fire Protection District
Two, six-year terms, one four-year unexpired term
One two-year unexpired term will be on the ballot in April for the Leadwood Fire Protection District.
As of Tuesday, incumbents Charles “Tiny” Lewis and Kelly Brownlee had filed for re-election.
Filing for these positions are being handled at the St. Francois County’s County Clerk Office in the Courthouse Annex building in Farmington, not at the fire district’s headquarters.
Park Hills
Four council seats will be on the April ballot in Park Hills. Three incumbents have filed for re-election thus far.
Ward II incumbent David Edgar has filed. Edgar currently is filling the unexpired term of David Easter, who was elected mayor last spring. That seat is open for a two-year term in April.
In Ward II, Charlotte House has filed for re-election. Terry Barnett has filed for re-election to his Ward IV seat.
As of Tuesday, no one had filed for the Ward I seat currently held by Mike Glore.
Farmington
Four council seats will be up for grabs come April. As of Friday only the incumbants had filed. Those seeking reelection included Ward 1 Councilman Larry Forsythe, Ward 2 Councilman Lynn Crites, Ward 3 Councilman Darrel Holdman, and Ward 4 Councilman Mark Kellogg.
St. Francois County Special Road District #2
One seat is open on the St. Francois County Special Road District #2 board. The term is three years. Incumbent Danny Keen has filed for re-election.
Bismarck School District
Incumbent Wendell Jarvis has filed for a three-year term. A second three-year term has no filings as of Wednesday.
Central School District
The two incumbents Jim Sherrill and David Gross and one challenger Donnie Bess have filed for two three-year terms.
North County School District
There are two seats on the ballot for the school board. Each is for a three-year term. Incumbents Larry Joseph and Lisa Umfleet, as well as Paul Williams have filed so far.
West County School District
There will be two seats on the April ballot for the West County School District. Each is a three-year term. Incumbent Shawn Meinershagen and former board member John French have filed.
Farmington School District
Two seats are up for election in the Farmington School District. So far three have filed for the two seats. Incumbents Kelly Legan and Keven Harrington and challenger Dr. Ben Rothlisberger filed Tuesday.
