Desloge Chamber will elect nine to board of directors
DESLOGE — Members of the Desloge Chamber of Commerce will have at least nine seats on its board of directors to fill at the February luncheon. Jason Loughary, who is serving on the chamber’s nominating committee, said Chamber President Betty Coale is the only person still technically on the board.
Chamber Vice-president Debbie Kester announced she was stepping away from the chamber in December. Coale said even though Kester never officially gave the chamber a letter of resignation, she was off the board because of consecutive missed meetings.
Loughary doesn’t think filling the vacancies on the board of directors will be a problem for the chamber.
“We have a list of about 10 people who are willing to serve on the board of directors,” Loughary said. “The list will be submitted to Betty (Coale) at the chamber board meeting at the end of this month. Chamber members will vote on the nominees at the membership meeting in February.”
Loughary, Jessica Lewis and Chuck Odle were previously selected to serve on the nominating committee.
Loughary said there has been a renewed interest in the chamber in the past month.
“Membership has increased,” he said. “We have new members joining both as individuals and businesses.”
Coale said attendance was up at Tuesday’s chamber membership meeting.
“We actually had two new members join the chamber at the meeting,” she said. “There were about 15 people at the meeting. Everyone at the meeting was very interested in what is going on with the chamber.”
Coale said the nominating committee will continue to work on the list of board nominees until the end of the month. She said the chamber will host a trivia night on Feb. 6 at the Mineral Area Elks Lodge. For more information about the trivia night contact Coale at 573-518-1544.
