Sharon Lee (Knapp) Stephens

Sharon Lee Stephens, 66, of Marquand, Missouri (formerly Belleville, Illlinois) died January 3, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born June 14, 1943 in Belleville, a daughter of Alfred and Bertha (Wuest) Knapp.

On August 6, 1977 in Marquand, she was united in marriage to Edwin “Huffy” Stephens who survives at the home.

Mrs. Stephens is also survived by one son, Richard Chappell of Syracuse, Missouri; step-daughter, Jan Harding of Raytown, Missouri; step-son, Steve Stephens of St. Ann, Missouri; one brother, Donald Knapp of Belleville; one sister, Jean Taphorn of Belleville; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Stephens was a graduate of Belleville Township High School.

She retired as a legal secretary from the Law Firm of Schnapp, Fulton, Fall, Silvey and Reid, L.L.C. in Fredeericktown.

Mrs. Stephens was a breast cancer survivor and enjoyed the outdoors, boating, water skiing, camping, hummingbirds and cooking; but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Services were held January 7, 2010 at Wilson Funeral Home with Brother W.D. “Bud” Snyder officiating. Burial was at Stephens Cemetery in Marquand.

Pallbearers were: Joshua Chappell, Dustin Cox, William Stephens, Steve Stephens, Jerry Stephens and Dan Fall.
