Leerie Aline Smith

FARMINGTON — Leerie Aline Smith of Farmington passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the age of 90 years, six months, and six days. She was born July 25, 1919, at St. Francois County, daughter of the late Ranzie L. and Sarah Gertrude (St. Gemme) Canterberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse W. Smith; brothers, George and Cecil Canterberry; three sisters, Agnes Burns, Violet McCalister and Juanita Rice, and a very special nephew,  Les Canterberry.

She enjoyed her home, tending to her plants and flower gardening. Leerie was a compassionate, caring neighbor and friend who helped her extended family members out whenever she could. Before retirement she was employed for many years as a Machine Operator for Visinet Mills in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a host of cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Funeral services will follow beginning at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. John Canterberry officiating.
