Leadwood man dies in Saturday accident

A Leadwood man was killed Saturday after being partially ejected when his 2003 Ford F150 overturned in St. Francois County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, William E. Robinett, 70, was eastbound on Raider Road at 10:39 p.m. when he filed to negotiate a curve to the left. The truck went off the right side of the road, traveled across Vo-Tech road and overturned. 200 feet west of Vo-Tech Road. Robinett, who had not been wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Damage to the truck was listed as total.

Five people were injured Saturday during at two-vehicle collision in Stoddard County.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, the accident occurred at 10:05 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 284 and County Road 287. The vehicles collided when a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Aaron W. Keena, 20, of Puxico, was westbound on County Road 284 and a southbound 2004 GMC Sierra driven by Jerry N. Powell, 26, of Puxico, tried to turn eastbound on County 284 from County Road 287.

Keena and passenger Kayla Wilson, 17, of Fredericktown received minor injuries and passenger Niome Johns, 28, of Farmington received moderate injuries. All three were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. None was wearing a seat belt.

Powell, who had not been wearing a seat belt, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. His passenger, Megan D. Clark, 17, of Puxico, received moderate injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. It was unknown whether she was wearing a seat belt.

Damage to each vehicle was listed as total.
