2010 Ste. Genevieve Garden Walk

The Ste. Genevieve County Master Gardeners invite you to attend the annual Ste. Genevieve Garden Walk Saturday and Sunday in Ste. Genevieve. The gardens of the Bolduc House, Felix Vallé and Jacques Guibourd historic houses will be open and free to the public. In addition, the Bolduc gardeners will be discussing herb gardening and the Felix Vallé gardener will discuss medicinal plants as part of their free garden tours. This walk is also a great chance to view some of Ste. Genevieve’s finest private gardens. Times for the Walk are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Cost for the walk is $6 and the ticket is good for both days. The Walk will start at the Welcome Center located on the corner of Market and Main in the historic district.

The Master Gardeners will offer plants for sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. The Bolduc House will offer herbs and garden plants for sale. The Jacques Guibourd House will offer lilies (our town flower), ferns, and Ste. Genevieve’s own variety of boxwood. Prairie Hills Farms will be selling Missouri native plants. A new feature this year will be the Garden Market where you can purchase garden related accessories.

A discussion on water gardening will be given at 11 a.m. each day at one of the gardens on the Walk. A guided tour of the historic district with emphasis on gardening and agriculture will be offered each day at 1:30 p.m. for an additional fee of $4.

This year’s walk also includes a bird house and bird feeder contest. Winners will be announced at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Ste. Genevieve Farmers Market will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Flowers, vegetables, baked goods, and canned goods are available for purchase. Attendance prizes will be given away each day. You need not be present to win.
