Piedmont resident files for Senate

Doug Enyart, senior forester and owner of Clearwater Forest Consultants, has announced his candidacy as an Independent for the US Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Kit Bond.

“I looked at the current field of candidates and just felt that something was missing. The people of Missouri need another choice. They need an alternative to the same old two party dominance, dominated by career politicians engaging in the same old partisan bickering. As an Independent I will owe nothing to the major parties, and they’ll have to earn my vote. I’ve never held public office before, so I’m obviously not a career politician.

As the saying goes, if you want a job done right, do it yourself. I can’t sit on the sidelines any longer, just watching all that’s wrong with our federal government, wishing someone would do a better job for us. I’d like to take my business experience and a good dose of common sense from Missouri to Washington.

The driving reason for making the decision to run is the out of control spending that’s going on in Washington. Both parties are guilty. They just keep pulling out the Washington credit card spending our kids’ and grandkids’ future. A family and a business have to live within their means, and so should Washington.
