‘Sneak a peak’ day at County Fair
Head to the garden, bake that last batch of bread or finish that last row of knitting – it’s time to enter home economics and field exhibits in the 2010 St. Francois County Fair.
Today also is the day to bring in your poultry and rabbit entries. Youth will bring in their steers, hogs, goats and swine.
Today is “sneak a peak” day, so after you finish submitting your entries, you can take a look at the livestock, wait for the announcement of the Fair Queen or ride the carnival rights all night for $10 if you buy an unlimited rides wristband. The Missouri Western Horse Show starts at 7 p.m. in the horse arena.
Admission to the fair is free today. VIP tickets will be on sale at the fairgrounds for Thursday’s Justin Moore concert and Friday’s Josh Thompson concert. Or, call 314-534-1111 or buy them online at http://metrotix.com
The Exhibit Hall opens at 2 p.m. and closes at 6 p.m. for exhibitors of all ages to enter home cooked or canned foods, handmade crafts, vegetables from their gardens and crops from their fields. Judging is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., during which the Exhibit Hall will be closed.
Flower entries will be accepted on Wednesday.
Junior livestock must be in their stalls by 2 p.m. Rabbits and poultry may be entered from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
After the winner is announced, the new fair queen will be crowned. Coronation time currently is 6 p.m. in the exhibit building.
The junior public speaking contest starts at 5:30 p.m. at the exhibit building. Training barrels will get under way at 6 p.m. in the arena and the Missouri Western Horse Show Association’s speed show will start at 7 p.m. The youth benefit auction will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Youth Activities Building.
