Twelve Year Olds (70’ bases)

LAMAR, CO — The Mineral Area All-Stars won two more games in the 12-year-old, 70’ bases, Midwest Regional Tournament, defeating Emporia, Kansas in a much-delayed game 10-1, and then outlasting Southeast Denver by a score of 8-6. The All-Stars will face Liberal, Kansas today at 4 p.m. in the winner’s bracket semi-final.

Andres Castro gave up only two hits over his three innings on the mound against Emporia, striking out four before giving way to Logan Winder who struck out five batters in two innings. Brendan White pitched the last frame.

Drew Harlow hit a two-run home run over the centerfield fence for the All-Stars. Jake Bridges had two singles, and Colin Huitt, Winder and White had one hits each.

Brandt Busenbark found SE Denver’s batters a little harder to get out. Busenbark pitched four innings, giving up eight hits before Winder took over to pitch the last two innings.

Both pitchers chipped in offensively too, as Busenbark was 3-4 with two RBI, and Winder hit a double in the game. Huitt, Castro and White all singled.
