Jour de Fete Saturday in Ste. Genevieve

There will be more than 100 vendors, a wine-tasting and more at the 44th annual Jour de Fete this weekend.

The two-day festival celebrates the rich history of the community and is one of the area’s largest craft fairs.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A shuttle bus will be available.

Before the festival, there will be the Valle Athletic Club breakfast at 6 a.m. Breakfast will be served both days at the Valle Schools cafeteria on Merchant Street.

Then there’s a 5K run. Registration is at 7 a.m. at Pere Marquette Park on North Fourth Street. The run starts at 8 a.m.

Opening ceremonies for the weekend festival will be at 10 a.m. at the Welcome and Visitors Center at the corner of Main and Market streets.

There will be arts and crafts, food booths, wine tasting, beer garden, colonial crafts, historic home tours and Fort de Chartres French Marines and Ste. Genevieve Colonial Militia encampments at the Shaw House at Merchant and Second streets.

The World Bird Sanctuary will have a variety of raptors on display at the Bolduc LeMeileur House on Main Street.

A classic car show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Market Street. A fried chicken dinner will also be held there at 11 a.m.
