Major Larry Fortin

Major Larry Fortin, 69, of Fredericktown, Missouri died August 18, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born on November 2, 1940 in Woodstock, Illinois, a son of Larry and Dorothy (Hahn) Fortin.

On October 30, 1982 in Woodstock he was united in marriage to Kathy Rasmusen who survives at the home.

Mr. Fortin is also survived by one son Max Fortin of Wisconsin; daughters Kimberly Fillmore of Minnesota and Djuana Leonard of Illinois; stepchildren – Scott and Eve McKee of Illinois and Shelly McKee of Fredericktown and six grandchildren.   

Mr. Fortin was a police officer for the McHenry County Sheriffs Department in Woodstock, Illinois where he began as a deputy and quickly worked his way to major and captain of patrol; he served 20 years in law enforcement and retired on January 8, 1993.  He was very well liked throughout the county and will be sadly missed.

He enjoyed breaking horses and was of the Jewish faith.   A memorial service will be held at a later date.
