Russell Dale Hand
Mr. Russell Dale Hand, age 80, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Mr. Hand was born October 5, 1929 in Flat River, Missouri, the son of the Reverend Sylvester Andrew “Big Boy” and Ethel Snodgrass Hand.
He moved to Dothan in 1958 and worked as a machinist for twenty seven years with Hedstrom Union Company prior to his retirement.
Mr. Hand served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was an active member of Cloverdale Baptist Church for the past fifty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Maxine (Adams) Hand; his parents; three sisters; Helen Gamblin and Ruth Young of Fredericktown, and Virgina Adams of Farmington; and three brothers; Richard Hand of Bonifay, Florida, Robert Hand of Joliet, Illinois and twin brother Raymond David who died at birth.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Duane Herring, granddaughter and husband, Melissa and Philip Killingsworth, great grandson, Nathan Killingsworth and best friend Richard Shepard, all of Dothan; two sisters, Shirley Jackson and Doris Grindstaff, brother-in-law, Noah Young all of Fredericktown, special friend, Betty Conway and many, many nieces and nephews of the Fredericktown and surrounding area.
