MMC board discusses renovating East Wing
The Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees met Nov. 10, for its regular monthly meeting.
Plans for renovating the East Wing of the hospital are still under consideration. The board agreed to focus on the possibility of using the area for intermediate care.
The Board approved consulting staff privileges in Diagnostic Radiology for Jon Michael Banas, D.O., through Virtual Radiologic Consultants. They also approved Allied Health Professional Staff privileges for Mary Nash Long, FNP.
Lisa Twidwell, Administrator, updated the Board regarding recent Medicare and Medicaid changes that will affect reimbursement for MMC.
There were 521 patients seen in the E.R. during October. There were 26 surgery cases, and 11 air transports from the hospital.
During the month of October there were 7 new admissions to the nursing home, 2 re-admissions, 4 discharges and 3 deaths.
There were 310 Home Health visits and 2,328 in-home service units provided during October.
There were 1,273 Rural Health Clinic visits and 261 Outpatient Clinic visits during October 2010.
The annual Christmas party for the residents of Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home will be Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010. The MAC jazz band will be playing Christmas music at the party, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
MMC had a booth at the Freakytown Halloween celebration on Saturday, October 30 in downtown Fredericktown. MMC provided health screenings for city employees Nov. 3. MMC employees attended a domestic violence awareness luncheon recently and a University of Missouri Extension Health Provider Seminar on Nov. 4. MMC employees continue to help deliver meals at the Senior Center every Wednesday. Carol Hyatt, Jennifer Penuel, Kristen Starkey, and Allan Sucharski attend the Kiwanis Club luncheon meetings every Tuesday.
The MMC Ladies Auxiliary held two very successful fund raising events recently.
The Board approved employee Christmas bonuses in the same amounts as last year.
The Board education video presentation for this month by Darlene Bainbridge of D.D. Bainbridge & Associates, Inc., focused on the importance of the mission, vision and values of a healthcare organization.
The following board members were present at the meeitng: Bob Schwent, Ruth Ann Skaggs, and Denny Ward. Board members absent: Larry Hunt and Kent Marler.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Dr. Slaughter Memorial Building.
