Student of the month named

The Farmington Elks Lodge #1765 has announced that the Farmington High School Student of the Month for September is Nicholas Sutherland.  

Nicholas is the son of Miriam and Kraig Sutherland. His honors and awards include Best in Show at the MAC Math-Science Fair and Best in Show at the SEMO Regional Science Fair, Boy’s State-elected State Senator, Sate Choir Contest 1 rating, All-District Choir-top 20, Sophomore Pilgrimage, Missouri Leadership Seminar, Rotary Student of the Month and 2010 Outstanding Spanish Student.  

Organizations Sutherland has been involved in are the National Honor Society President 2010-11, Student Council Treasurer 2009-10, Student Council Class Secretary 2010-11, Fellowship of Christian Athletes officer from 2008-11, Acapella Choir Librarian 2009-11, member of the Boy Scouts, Black Knight TV 2007-11, St. Paul Lutheran Youth Group, WYSE Academic Team 2009-10, Math Team 2007-11, Speech and Debate Team 2010, Scholar Team member, and a member of the Council of Lutheran Youth Fellowship National Youth Leadership Board 2009-11.

Other activities include Soccer, Cross Country, Track, and A+ Tutoring, Wrestling, Acapella Choir, Choraliers, Band, P.A.G.E.S., and member of the musicals Godspell and Macbeth. 

 After graduation from high school he plans on attending a four-year university majoring in Chemical Engineering and acquire a minor in Spanish.  

As Student of the Month, Nicholas will receive a $100 savings bond and will compete for the Farmington Elks Farmington High School Student of the Year to be awarded in May.
