Peggy Joan Hovis

Peggy Joan Hovis, 66, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri died November 11, 2010 after a 19 month battle with cancer.

She was born July 19, 1944 in Cornwall, Missouri, a daughter of Clyde Oland Guinn and Opal (Forsythe) Guinn.

On December 22, 1962 she was united in marriage to Hollis Hovis in Fredericktown, Missouri. They had one child, Cynthia Lynn.

Mrs. Hovis was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald O. Guinn and Ronald Levi Guinn; and one sister, Delores Imogene (Guinn) Mann.

She is survived by her husband, Hollis Hovis of Poplar Bluff;  their daughter, Cynthia Lynn Gaebler; one brother, James William Guinn of Fredericktown; two sisters, Betty Marlene Barker of Piedmont, Missouri and Donna Kay Harper of Fredericktown; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Before being diagnosed with cancer, she was a housewife who loved her job. She cooked and baked all the time. She loved taking care of her home and her family. She enjoyed gardening  and working in the yard. One of her favorite things  was playing in her pool. She also enjoyed collecting and reading cookbooks.

Services were held November 15, 2010 at the Cottrell Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri with Brother William Barker officiating. Burial was at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
