Lady Warriors pull off overtime upset

BONNE TERRE — The Valle Lady Warriors won a 6-2 overtime battle in the North County Holiday Classic to post a 58-54 upset of the No. 3 Viburnum Lady Jays. Valle, seeded No. 3, led nearly the whole game, with the Lady Jays trailing by eight going into the fourth quarter.

Maria Herzog led a foursome of double-digit scorers for Valle.  Herzog finished with 14 points followed by Lacie Lutrell with 12, Katie Bader with 11, and Haylie Reynolds with 10. Reynolds and Bader both made three three-pointers in the game. 

Gretchen Koller took care of the boards with 12 rebounds for Valle, and Lutrell made four steals and four assists. Hannah Adams led the Lady Jays with 20 points, Nikki Bozic had 13 and Bekah Olkkenon finished with 12.

Valle will play West County in today’s semi-finals, but Viburnum will have to wait until Wednesday for their next game in the consolation finals.
