Orene Scott
BONNE TERRE — Orene (Lee) Powell-Scott, age 94, of Bonne Terre passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at her daughter’s home. She was born April 20, 1916 in Bonne Terre to the late Thomas Jefferson and Mary Ann (Williams) Lee.
She was preceded in death by: First husband, Edward Powell; second husband, Leland Scott; five sisters, Eva (Lee) Long, Gertrude (Lee) Graves, Ollie (Lee) McGlaughin, Myrtle (Lee) House and Leona (Lee) Turley; one brother Amos Lee; Aunt, Mattie Williams and several cousins.
Orene was member of the First Baptist Church of Bonne Terre for numerous years.
She is survived by one son, James “Jim” and wife Janet Powell; one daughter, Lois and husband Bert Leftridge. These unions provided four grandchildren, Roger Leftridge, Valarie (David) Drummonds, James “Jamie” (Elizabeth) Powell, Andrea Powell Garst-Berry and husband Pastor Dean; Ten Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 4, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at C. Z. Boyer and Son Chapel with Rev. Ron Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Bonne Terre Cemetery.
