Fire burns abandoned house

Firefighters battled a fire in Washington County Sunday night.

According to the Potosi Fire Department, firefighters responded to an abandoned two-story house on Highway 8 near Pigeon Roost at about 10 p.m.

When they arrived, the house, as well as an outbuilding, were fully engulfed in flames. The fire also spread to the corner of an abandoned trailer nearby.

Firefighters from Leadwood, Desloge, Big River, Bismarck, De Soto, and Steelville assisted. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
