Blackcats fall to Hornets in offensive battle
FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown Blackcats became the second MAAA Conference victim of the Crystal City Hornets in as many days. After defeating Kingston on Monday, the Hornets pulled off an 11-4 win over the Blackcats on Tuesday.
Fredericktown nearly matched the Hornets hit for hit, but eight free passes for Crystal City did the Blackcats in as the Hornets used the walks to their advantage, scoring five runs in the fifth to blow up a 2-2 ball game.
Rusty Allgier had the hot bat for the Blackcats, going 3-4 with a home run. Jacob Farmer also hit one out for his only hit in the game. Riley Bumgardener and Brady Brewen hit two singles apiece, and Levi Smallen hit one.
Fredericktown (1-1) will be at home again on Thursday for their next game against Woodland.
