Two seek position on Doe Run Fire Protection Board

Two individuals are seeking one six-year term on the Doe Run Fire Protection District Board. They are Sarah Davern-Douglas and Lindell Maurer.   

Sarah Davern-Douglas

Sarah Davern-Douglas is a stay-at-home mom with two children, ages 2 and 7 months. Her boyfriend, James Barnes, is a captain on the fire department. She volunteers by taking care of public relations and records for the department. She is a graduate of Central High School and has taken some accounting and business management classes at college.

She is running because she would like to be involved with and help the fire board out.

Lindell Maurer

Lindell Maurer is a graduate of Farmington High School. He has worked for the Department of Corrections for the past 13 years.

He is a member of the fire department and is also a member of Farmington Correctional Center’s fire brigade.

He is running because he believes there are a few things that need to be changed. He believes the department needs a little more organization, and better equipment to keep firefighters and the community safer. He believes he will be level-headed and a person who won’t play favorites.

Candidate Features

The Daily Journal will cover only contested races in the April,August and November elections. If you are in a contested race, youwill be contacted by a reporter who will either request a phoneinterview or a face-toface interview prior to the election. Thereporter will ask each candidate seeking the same office the samequestions which are relevant to the office he or she is seeking.Your responses along with a short biography will be used by thereporter in construction of his or her story. Please take note ofdeadlines when reporters make contact with you. If the DailyJournal does not have a photo of you, either provide one to us, orcontact Sherry Greminger at 573-431-2010, extension 115 and we willmake an appointment for you to come into the office for a photoshoot.

Only rebuttalsto previously published letters will be considered during the weekprior to election. The editor will make the final determination onany and all letters to the editor.
