Rebels blank Tigers as Mosier tosses 1-hitter

PARK HILLS — Senior pitcher Dale Mosier delivered a double and single at the plate, and carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning despite issuing six walks on Monday afternoon.

The Central baseball team turned three double plays behind its hurler, and capitalized on four Arcadia Valley errors to notch a 5-0 home victory.

The Rebels (3-1) grabbed a first-inning lead following a RBI double from Mosier and subsequent error along the infield. Garrett Manion scored an insurance tally on a wild throw in the third to make it 3-0.

Manion capped his 2-for-3 effort with a two-run double in the fifth against Arcadia Valley starter Dustin Hampton, who recorded seven strikeouts while yielding six walks and five hits.

Tigers sophomore Clay Allgier broke up the potential no-hitter with a long single to right field, but Mosier (2-0) preserved his shutout with consecutive ground outs to strand lead runner Matt Morrison at third base.

Central shortstop Aaron Tyree started a key double play after Arcadia Valley loaded the bases in the opening frame. Mosier posted the complete game from there on 76 total pitches.

Aristotle Butler added a single and Luke Baker walked twice for Central.
