Baseball Blackcats lose two at home
The Fredericktown Blackcats lost their home opener, Tuesday to the Crystal City Hornets.
The Hornets defeated the Cats, 11-4. Junior Tanner Ward (pictured) pitched four innings, leaving with the game tied 2-2.
The Cats Rusty Allgier was 3-4 with a home run. Jacob Farmer also hit a mammoth home run to left center field. Riley Bumgardener and Brady Brewen hit two singles each, and Levi Smallen hit one.
Thursday, the Cats lost to Woodland, 7-6.
FHS led 6-4, and was one strike away form the victory, before the Woodland No. 9 hitter hit a three run home run, just over the left field fence. The Cats did not score in the bottom of the seventh.
A.P. Lewandowski went 2-3 at the plate for the Cats. Allgier hit a two-run triple, and Farmer, Bumgardener and Ward each had one hit.
The Cats (1-2) host Saxony Lutheran, Thursday. Their game with Notre Dame (postponed due to bad weather) has been rescheduled for April 27, in Cape Girardeau.
