Don’t forget to vote today

It’s going to be a day at the races in St. Francois County, with candidates vying for seats in school boards and municipalities all over the county.

A last-minute write-in has added a race to Bonne Terre in Ward I, with Rosa Dodson making the deadline to be a certified write-in candidate. She is running against Harold D. Morgan for the two-year term.

Voters must write her name in for it to be counted. She will not appear on the ballot.

There’s also a race in Ward III Bonne Terre and races in Bismarck,  Farmington, Iron Mountain Lake, Leadington, Leadwood and Park Hills.

Schools with contested races are Farmington, North County, Bismarck, West County and Central.

Doe Run has two contestants for a six-year term on the Fire Protection Board.

Polls will open at 6 a.m. Tuesday and close at 7 p.m.

St. Francois County Clerk Mark Hedrick reported that the polling place in Leadington is moving to the city hall and in Bismarck to the VFW Hall.
