MAC softball splits with Three Rivers
FARMINGTON — The Mineral Area women’s softball team suffered a narrow 6-5 loss to Three Rivers in extra innings, but rebounded for an 8-7 triumph in the nightcap of a double-header on Tuesday.
Sophomore infielder Trish Patterson drilled a two-run homer, her first of the season, and Allyson Luce finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the opener.
Alex Perry pitched all nine innings and allowed three earned runs on 10 hits in defeat. She recorded five strikeouts and issued no walks. Tori Henson added a two-run double for the Lady Cardinals.
Jennifer Hackworth fanned two and earned the win in a second contest that saw Three Rivers post an 11-10 edge in total hits.
Perry homered and Henson finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the offensive attack. Kelly Kelm singled twice, Hannah Hicks added a key two-run single and Taylre Scott collected a RBI hit.
