Fantastic Fungi

April showers bring … mushrooms.

Fungi hunters have already started taking to the woods and field corners to locate edible mushrooms, many in search of the elusive but most-tasty morel. Along the way there are dozens of varieties of mushrooms, not all edible, to be found sprouting up through damp ground.

Danny Johnson harvested this 4-pound, 6 ounce, 12-inch high, 8-inch across unknown species in the northern part of our coverage area. More specifics were not given, seeing how most mushroom hunters are tight-lipped about their best-producing locations.
