Cause of storage building fire suspicious

The cause of a fire Friday evening at the BLB Rental units off Karsch Boulevard has been listed as “incendiary” by the Farmington Fire Department.

According to the officials in the fire department, when firemen arrived around 8:45 p.m. smoke and flames were coming from a building that housed six storage units. The building is located next to Pad Thai restaurant.

Items stored inside the rental units were damaged but officials do not have a firm estimate yet. There’s reason to believe a supposed empty unit had activity in it because some items had been moved in, and possibly someone was spending some time living in the space.

There were no injuries in the fire, which is being investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office.

Departments assisting with the fire included Wolf Creek, Park Hills and Doe Run.
