Pirates defeat Elks

POTOSI — Jake Coleman finished 4-for-5 with a double and Eric Grundmann was a perfect 3-for-3 late Tuesday in a 16-7 victory, as the visiting Leadwood Pirates defeated the Potosi Elks for the second straight night.

Derek Mitchell and Alex Politte added two hits each, and Garrett Coffman doubled for the Pirates (3-1). Josh Gidden, Matt Franklin and Elliot Sutton chipped in singles.

Coleman and Franklin each worked three innings on the mound.

Nick Hahlweg and Ross Politte had two singled apiece for the Elks (1-4).
