Tests show elevated levels of bacteria
Ste. Genevieve County officials are concerns about Department of Natural Resources testing that shows elevated levels of coliform bacteria.
According to the Ste. Genevieve Herald, samples were taken from seven locations in St. Mary on May 23. The city was informed of the problem on June 5 and is having the water retested.
The city’s new standpipe was santized in April after DNR found bacteria in water samples that month. They are still investigating to determine what the cause could be.
The water is supplied by the Ste. Genevieve Public Water Supply District 1.
