Washington County Farmers Market open

The Washington County Farmers Market is now open for the season and is located at the County Courthouse Parking Lot from 7:30 a.m. Saturdays until noon.

It is also opening Wednesdays at the Washington County Health Department Pavilion 520 Purcell Drive, Potosi on July 6 from 7:30 a.m. until sellout.

This will be the schedule for the market from here on out.

The County Farmer’s Market calendar helps support this project and the calendars are for sale at $2 each. These are available at the Farmers Market, County Health Office, University Extension and the Independent Journal’s office.

A number of $10 coupons are available for use at the Farmer’s Market, thanks to the support of advertisers in the calendar. Qualified seniors may apply for these at the Washington County Health Office to receive five $2 checks each which may be redeemed for locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs at the WCHD approved local Farmer’s Market produce stands.

The number of checks available are limited, so some restrictions apply. You must be 60 or older to qualify, have an annual income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty guidelines — $17,609.18 for a single individual and $23,167.32 for a couple.
