Bridge closes for improvement
Work to replace the Route E bridge over Matthes Creek in Madison County is expected to begin Monday, July 11, weather permitting. The roadway will remain closed from Route KK to Route O as construction is under way. Completion is anticipated in mid-September.
Improvements to the Route E bridge will be completed through the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. The program will improve more than 800 of the state’s lowest-rated bridges by winter 2013.
Signs and warning devices will be in place as improvements are under way. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
