Vehicle overturns, teen injured

An Ironton teenager received moderate injuries Sunday when the 1996 Mercury Sable in which she was riding overturned in Washington County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Eric R. Gore, 32, of Arcadia,  was westbound on Missouri 32 at 2:45 a.m. when he fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. The Mercury went off the south side of the road, struck a tree and overturned, west of the St. Francois County line.

Heaven L. Marsh, 17, who had been wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. No injuries were listed for Gore, who had not been wearing a seat belt.

Damage to the vehicle was listed as total.

A Cadet teenager received minor injuries Saturday when the 2000 Mercury Cougar in which she was riding struck a 2006 Ford Focus in Washington County.

According to the Highway Patrol, Potosi resident Glen E. Broombaugh, 79, was southbound on Missouri 21 in the Ford at 4:55 p.m. when the front of his vehicle struck a dog in the road. The southbound Cougar, driven by Mykayla N. Govero, 17, of Cadet, struck the rear of the Ford, .5 mile south of Miller Road.

April L. Portell was taken by ambulance to Washington County Memorial Hospital. No injuries were listed for either driver. Broombaugh was the only one wearing a seat belt.

Damage to the Ford was listed as moderate and damage to the Mercury was listed as extensive.

A Robertsville man was seriously injured Friday when his 1999 Ford F150 overturned in Washington County.

According to Highway Patrol reports, Craig P. O’Toole, 50, was westbound on Route H at 6:30 p.m. when he traveled off the right side of the road and overturned, .3 mile west of Route WW.

O’Toole, who had not been wearing a seat belt, was flown by air ambulance to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

Damage to the vehicle was listed as total.
