Doe Run community holds homecoming picnic

The annual Doe Run Homecoming Picnic is set to take place Aug. 13 weather permitting.

Each year the community picnic is a fun, relaxing time to show up and visit with old friends and acquaintances. The picnic offers activities for the children, a chance to visit for the adults, and good wholesome entertainment for all.

This year’s picnic will open with a prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. with doughnuts, coffee, juice, milk and more provided.

Throughout the day there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts and soft drinks for sale. Visitors can also enjoy free popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and ice cream.

Live music will be provided by Sheriff Dan Bullock and his band. Additionally, EmCee Productions will be providing music all day and taking requests.

The picnic is held in Doe Run Community Park, and additional games and activities will be held for the children.

If weather results in a cancellation, the picnic will be held Aug. 14

The Doe Run Fire Department will be on hand in case of emergencies, and will demonstrate an extrication with their Jaws of Life in the afternoon.
