MAC Practical Nursing students graduate in July 23 ceremony

PARK HILLS – Mineral Area College graduates of the community college’s 51st class of the Practical Nursing Program participated in ceremonies on July 29 at the Park Hills campus’s Fine Arts Theatre.

Graduating students included: Tiffanie Bange, DeSoto; Tausha Berry, Fredericktown; Sarah Bohnenkamp, Bonne Terre; Kayla Bone, Glen Allen; Tricia Dane,  Bonne Terre; Brandon Downard, Bonne Terre; Teresa Francis, Perryville; Jessica Hancock, Mineral Point; Stacie Jones, Park Hills; Chelse Kight, Patton; Jada Long, Marble Hill; Jennifer Lowrey, Farmington; Katie Lynch, Park Hills; Jessica Martin, Arcadia; Steven McKenzie, Bonne Terre; Michelle Miller, Farmington; Macey Nicholson, Park Hills; Miranda Politte, Cadet; Natasha Rhodes, Marble Hill; Jessica Schuerman, Ste. Genevieve; Carolyn Seabaugh, Glen Allen; Christopher Snead, Bonne Terre; Natalie Tackett, Desloge; Chelsea Thomure, Farmington; April Welch, Desloge; Candice Wood, Cadet; Cheryl Yates, Cadet; Amber Zolman, Farmington.

The guest speaker this year was Missouri 3rd District Senator Kevin Engler. Engler was elected to the Missouri Senate in 2004 and re-elected in 2008. He now serves as the Majority Floor Leader for the Senate. He represents the district that includes Carter, Reynolds, Iron, Washington, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve and South Jefferson counties. Before becoming senator, he served one term in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Class officers for the Practical Nursing Program’s 51st graduating class included: Teresa Francis, president; Cheryl Yates, vice president; Jessica Hancock, secretary; Candice Wood, treasurer; and Michelle Miller, assistant treasurer.

PN Program Coordinator Lana Jinkerson, RN, MSN, welcomed the graduates, their families and friends, while Vice President of College Affairs / Career & Technical Education Dean Gil Kennon recognized guests and conferred graduation certificates. PN faculty Cathy Hutcheson, RN, BSN; Angela Schwent, RN, BSN; and Dr. Gamble presented pins to the graduates. Allied Health Director Teri Douglas presented the graduates and closed the ceremonies.
