Lewis Franklin Miller

Lewis Franklin Miller, 89, of Monument, Oregon died June 7, 2011.

He was born September 23, 1921, in Des Arc, Missouri, to John T. and Sara Jane (Berry) Miller.

On February 3, 1941, he married Gertrude Prokopf in Fredericktown, Missouri.

Mr. Miller had served in the U.S. Army from November 10, 1943 to January 22, 1947, with a rank of technician fifth grade.

He moved his family to Oregon in 1961 and went into ranching and farming. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Miller is survived by his daughters, Joan (Sam) Howell and Carol Williamson both of Monument, Oregon, and Peggy (Roger) Ashmead of Condon, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren ; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Cecilia (Prokopf) Deshaney of Fredericktown, and Mary H. (Prokopf) Dugan. He is also survived by Jerry Prokopf of Farmington and Paul Prokopf of Tuckerman, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; daughter, Dorothy J. Richards; infant son, Lewis Jr.; infant great-granddaughter Hayden Hamilton; great-granddaughter Michelle Powers; a brother and a sister.A public memorial was held June 24, 2011 at Monument City Park.
