Carl Burton Day

IRON MOUNTAIN LAKE — Carl Burton Day of Iron Mountain Lake, Mo. passed away August 26, 2011 in Farmington, Mo. at the age of 66 years, even though he always joked to everyone that he was 14. Carl was born November 11, 1944 to the late Carl Nelson and Mary Wilhelmina (Brown) Day.

On August 4, 1992, he was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Thompson, who survives. In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by seven children; Tonya (Frank) Beard of Iron Mountain Lake, Mo., Carl (Ella) Day Jr. of Marshall, Mo., Tracy (Gary) Wilson of Dexter, Mo., Stephianie Campbell of Iron Mountain Lake, Mo., Jennifer Campbell of St. Louis, Mo., and Allen Barker of Kansas. Also surviving are two brothers; Mickey (Karon) Day of Sedalia, Mo. and Tony (Sharon) Day of Marshall, Mo., two sisters; Mabel (Joe) Bailey of Marshall, Mo., and Ginger Newman of Kansas City, Mo., an aunt, Verona Gravitt of Kansas City, Mo., 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Igor, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to his children and grandchildren he was a father figure to many.

Carl was preceded in death by a son, Mark Campbell Jr., three brothers; Butch, Danny, and Donny Day, a sister, Dixie Day, and a grandson, Cory Gilliland, and a brother-in-law Don Newman.

Carl served his country in the United States Army.

Funeral services were held August 29, 2011 from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Barton officiating. Interment was in the Iron Mountain Cemetery.
