Bulldogs hang on for another narrow win
LEADWOOD — Senior Zac Turner finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and the West County baseball team scratched out another narrow victory on Tuesday by edging Kingston 9-8.
Jake Coleman collected three RBI on a pair of singles, and Tyler Dane drove home two runs with a triple and single. The Bulldogs have already prevailed in three separate one-run decisions during their fall season.
West County (4-0) tallied three runs in the fifth inning after trailing 6-5, but held on at the conclusion. Clayton LaBruyere inherited a bases-loaded jam in the seventh, but stranded runners at second and third for the save.
Starter Kyle Coleman worked 5 1/3 frames for the win, striking out four batters while allowing six hits. Jesse Waters and Kyle Harrison contributed doubles for the Bulldogs.
Ross Politte and Jarron Hahn had two hits each for Kingston, which trimmed a 9-6 deficit with two runs in the seventh.
