Lady Cats shutout Trojans
The Fredericktown Lady Cats Softball Team rebounded from two losses earlier in the week to defeat the Potosi Lady Trojans, 7-0, Thursday, here.
Fredericktown got an early lead with three runs in the first inning. Liz Royer led off the inning with a single and went to third on Nikki Mascaro’s double. Royer scored and Hayley Menteer (running for Mascaro) advanced to third on an error. Bridget Allgier singled Menteer home. The third run came on a steal of home.
Fredericktown added two more runs in the second inning, and single tallies in the fourth and sixth frames.
Nikki Mascaro and Anna Godsey each had two hits. Liz Royer had a hot and walk, and scored three times. Tori White had a double and scored twice.
On the mound, Mascaro allowed just two hots over seven shutout innings. She walked one, and struck out nine.
Tuesday and Wednesday, August 30-31, the Lady Cats lost to Farmington (11-1) and to DeSoto (16-0). Liz Royer went 2-3 with a run scored against Farmington. Nikki Mascaro, McKenzie Stockman, Megan Mullins, and Ashleigh Menteer added hits. Against DeSoto, Menteer had the Cats only hit.
The Lady Cats play at Scott City, today; and at North County, Thursday.
