POTOSI — Mariah Glore’s walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh completed a six-run, come-from-behind victory for the Potosi Lady Trojans as they defeated the Fredericktown Lady Cats 6-5 in Tuesday’s conference game.
Fredericktown jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning which was jump-started by a solo home run off the bat of Bridget Allgier. With two outs, Allgier worked a 1-2 count to full before hitting her blast. Four batters later, McKenzie Stockman emptied the bases with a three-run double.
The Lady Cats added a fifth run in the second inning, and then settled back as their pitcher, Nikki Mascaro kept the home team silent for four innings. Mascaro struck out eight batters and walked only one in the game.
The Lady Cats may have become a little too settled as Potosi’s offense came alive in the fifth inning with four runs, helped by the Lady Cats errors.
Potosi made it a tied game in the sixth inning, as Megan Osbahr pitched scoreless ball for the Lady Trojans after the second inning. Osbahr struck out seven and walked three in giving up only three earned runs.
Osbahr also led the Lady Trojans in hitting 3-4. Both Glore and Houston Nicholson were 2-3 with a double. Emilee Benson, Justice Rodgers and Maddie Martin chipped in one single each.
Bridget Allgier was 2-4 for the Lady Cats, Stockman was 2-3 and Caitlyn Allgier, Tori White, Anna Godsey, and Megan Mullins had one hit apiece.
Both teams will play again today with Fredericktown (4-13) hosting Sikeston, and Potosi (4-11) entertaining Jefferson.
